The Institute for Vehicle Technology and Environmental Technology
has since September 2001 been an Associated Institute of the Saarland
College of Technology and Commerce (Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft
(HTW) des Saarlandes). Its Director of Science, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolfram
Seibert, is a Professor of Vehicle Technology at the Department of Mechanical
Engineering at the HTW.
FORGIS spots future development trends within the automotive
industry, participates in the realisation of these trends and provides
companies within the industry with access to the knowledge acquired in
this process. In this way, the Institute promotes the transfer of technology
within the automotive industry.
FORGIS will continue to work in this manner in future areas
of development, thereby continuing to promote and implement innovative
mobility within the framework of what is technically possible.
One sample project that typifies the successful implementation of this
standard is the VEGAVO project, in which a front axle was developed
as a lightweight construction. In addition to the task of actually constructing
the product, the emphasis here was also on the systematic co-ordination
of partners within the project, and on methodical problem-solving.
Further activities that FORGIS will in the future be implementing
within projects include:
